A troubling situation has arisen for a consumer who claims they received their order of NOICE dark chocolate through Instamart and found glass pieces inside it. This complaint was made public on social media and has sent shockwave through the community of consumers regarding the food safety standards in terms of quick commerce delivery.
Complaint Publicly Shared
The consumer posted that the chocolate looked safe on the outer surface; however, once consumed, tiny, glass-like particles were found within it. This user posted a warning to others concerning the product along with photographic evidence of the glass inside the chocolate; however, the post went viral within a short time, with many commenting that they were shocked and wanted to hold both the company and the delivery service responsible.
Health Risks Associated with Glass Ingested
Food safety experts have cautioned that ingesting glass shards may result in severe internal injury to the mouth, throat, or digestive system as a result of ingesting tiny pieces, which could be quite painful if consumed. As a result, when someone is suspected to have ingested glass from an item, it is recommended that they stop eating the item and seek medical assistance.

Response from Instamart and Brand
Instamart has reported that they have responded to the complaint and have begun an internal investigation. They are said to have made it clear that they value their customer’s health and safety; they are actively working with the seller and the manufacturer to find out how this contamination could happen.
On the other hand, NOICE, the chocolate manufacturer at the center of this issue, has not yet put a public response out but will be analyzing their production and packaging methods following this issue.

Supply Chain Scrutinized
This incident has, once again, drawn attention to the complicated nature of the supply chain for Quick Commerce. During the course of getting to the consumer, many products pass through several channels of distribution: manufacturer, warehouse, and delivery centre. The quality control steps at any of these stages could result in unsafe products to consumers.
Industry observers say that it will be even more critical for Quick Commerce delivery service companies to place a priority on maintaining strict sanitation and inspection procedures for their products as they move toward faster delivery of their products.

Breach of Consumer Trust
Quick Commerce companies have built their reputations as convenient and reliable sources for the consumer. However, situations like this jeopardize consumer confidence in these companies. More and more, consumers are demanding greater transparency in the companies they purchase from, improved packaging assurance that their product will be safe, and more rigorous inspections of the product before it is shipped.
Many people have recently expressed frustration over lack of accountability regarding whether it’s the fault of the manufacturer, storage/distribution, or delivery.
Regulatory Compliance
Food safety authorities may investigate this situation if they receive formal complaints. In India, food contamination issues are overseen by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) which has the authority to order investigations, initiate recalls, and penalize companies for confirmed violations.
What Should Consumers Do?
Experts say that consumers should:
- Check package contents prior to using.
- Notify the affected vendor/platform as well as appropriate authorities of any contamination issue.
- Retry and/or disclose preserved packaging documentation/evidence (ie. receipts, shipping labels, etc.) related to suspected contaminated items.
- Seek appropriate medical attention if contamination of said item has occurred.
Summary
The reported presence of glass in a chocolate product has raised serious concerns regarding safety procedures/utilities as well as accountability in fast-growing delivery systems. As investigations proceed, both brands and vendors/platforms need to strengthen their quality assurance programs if they wish to regain consumer confidence.
