Mid-January and the ticker in the tech world is ticking over again. For smartphone geeks, this time of year means one thing: the arrival of Samsung’s flagship “S” series. It’s 2026 and it’s the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra that has everyone’s attention.
As the Galaxy S25 Ultra tore up the premium market in 2025, the rumor mills are now spinning to their hearts’ content about an S26 Ultra. Whether it’s a possible launch schedule hiccup or major improvements in charging speed and AI-fueled privacy, the next “Ultra” is becoming so much more than just a basic refresh. The Launch Schedule: A Late-February Unpacked?
The company has always leaned towards launching its new Galaxy-branded devices in mid to late-January, ahead of MWC. But for 2026, the credible leakers like Evan Blass and Ice Universe are suggesting there may be a switch.
As of now, the rumour mill is in favour of a Galaxy Unpacked event on February 25, 2026 in San Francisco. If this date is accurate we hope to see:
- Availability for pre-orders: Preorders will begin right after the event on Feb. 25.
- Official Sale Date: Should go on sale sometime around March 11, 2026, in global markets like India and Europe.
These delays compared to previous years are fabled to be a result of Samsung concentrating on nailing the integration of its latest 2nm and 3nm chipsets, as well as newly introduced suite of Generative AI features.

Camera: Even Faster Apertures and 24MP Magic
The 200MP main sensor does remains, but the “optics” are getting a drastic redesign. Rumours abound that the main camera will leap to an f/1.4 aperture (up from f/1.7), which would do wonders for low-light photography and deliver a natural ‘bokeh’ effect as well.
Software-side Upgrades:
- 24MP Default Mode: It is said to get a new shooting mode between the regular 12MP and larger 50MP/200MP. This 24MP setting is rumored to give more detail and a higher dynamic range with lower file sizes compared to RAW.
- Better AI processing: Better skin tone accuracy and less “over sharpening” is high on the list for One UI 8.5.
Battery and Charging: Finally, 60W!
Samsung has long lagged behind its Chinese rivals in charging speeds, obstinately clinging to a 45W limit – until now. The S26 Ultra will reportedly change that. The upgrade will apparently be to a 60W charging rate contrary to previous rumors of it being 45W, and according to the leaks, you’ll get 75% charge on the probably-monstrous 5,000mAh (or maybe even a staggering 5,100 mAh) cell in just half an hour.
The device is also rumored to be Qi2-ready, which would bring built-in magnetic charging and accessories (MagSafe-style) to the Galaxy ecosystem for the first time.
Expected Pricing in India
- Due to rising memory costs and the new 2nm/3nm chipset, a price hike is very much on the cards.
- Base Mode l (12GB/256GB): Base model is said to cost roughly around ₹1,29,999 – ₹1,34,999.
- High-End Model (16GB/1TB): Might go beyond ₹1,60,000.
As the late-February fall release date approaches, look for some official teasers from Samsung. The S26 Ultra is more than just a phone — it’s an indicator of where mobile technology will be heading throughout the next decade.
