Heavy rainfall continued across several parts of Delhi-NCR on Thursday, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue an orange alert. IMD Issues Orange Alert for Delhi-NCR
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed Delhi-NCR under an orange alert due to the possibility of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
According to the weather department, fairly widespread rainfall is expected to continue across Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh and western Uttar Pradesh until July 10.
The IMD has also forecast a fresh spell of rain over northeastern Uttar Pradesh until July 13, while eastern Rajasthan is likely to receive significant rainfall during the same period.
Schools Closed in Parts of Uttar Pradesh
District administrations have announced the closure of all schools from Nursery to Class 12 on July 10, 2026, because of extremely heavy rainfall.
The order applies to the following districts:
- Ghaziabad
- Meerut
- Baghpat
- Bulandshahr
The decision was issued through official orders released by the respective district administrations.

As of now, no official holiday has been declared for schools or colleges in:
- Delhi
- Noida (Gautam Buddh Nagar)
- Gurugram
- Faridabad
Educational institutions in these cities are expected to function according to their normal schedules unless the concerned authorities issue fresh notifications in response to changing weather conditions.

Parents, students and daily commuters have been advised to keep a close watch on updates issued by the India Meteorological Department, district administrations and local education departments.
