As the first state in India to adopt this approach, Delhi’s government has partnered with Bharat Taxi on a new joint transport project. The deal aims to bring cab services up to date, improve last mile connections, and give drivers better ways to make money by turning them into partners rather than commission based workers.
The relationship was made official when the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation and the group that runs Bharat Taxi signed an agreement. The signing was attended by top government officials who called the effort a step forward toward fair and tech driven public transportation.
Officials think the move could change how app based transportation works in the city by creating a system that balances the needs of commuters and drivers.
How the Model of Cooperation Works
The joint method differs from other ride hailing apps because it treats drivers as members and part owners. Drivers should be able to keep more of their wages, rather than losing a large share to platform fees. People who support the plan say that it will help thousands of families who depend on car services stay financially stable and safe in the long run.
The system will be run by a digital booking tool that makes it easy for people to plan rides and keeps prices clear. The government says that surge charges will not happen, which will make fares more reliable for workers.
The project aims to create a place where both customers and drivers can benefit from combining technology with joint control.

There is a big push for city travel and tourism
People also think that the partnership will help boost tourism in the nation’s cities. Special travel packages for tourists are being developed, including short city trips, half-day options, and full day sightseeing routes. These services will make it easier for tourists to visit historic sites, shops, and cultural centers.
Drivers will receive training to help them communicate better and learn more about important places to visit. The goal is to ensure they can help tourists not only by getting them where they need to go but also by serving as casual guides and enhancing the overall experience.
Residents will have safer ways to get around thanks to the system, especially in hard to reach areas by bus or train.
Making last mile connections better
One of Delhi’s biggest traffic problems is still getting around the last mile. Even though the train system is getting bigger, a lot of people still have trouble getting from stops to their homes or places of work. The government believes that Bharat Taxi can help fill this need.
By adding organized cab services, the government hopes to cut down on wait times, make public transportation better and get more people to use shared transportation instead of their own cars.
The plan could help cut down on traffic and pollution and make it easier to get around every day if it works.
