The Chinese government has publicly stated that they supported Pakistan in terms of on-ground and technical assistance during last year’s conflict referred to as Operation Sindoor. This is the first official confirmation from China regarding their involvement in this war. India responded quickly, stating they already understood China’s involvement and advised China to be mindful of its reputation globally.
China has publicly acknowledged their provision of both technical and operational aid to Pakistan in connection with Operation Sindoor, which is the first instance of Beijing stating that they were involved in the conflict between India and Pakistan back in the year 2025. According to reports, the engineers from China assisted in maintaining and operating Chinese made military systems that had been used by the Country of Pakistan.
Operation Sindoor was carried out by India in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, and sought to destroy terrorist infrastructures located inside the country of Pakistan and in areas known as Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
In response, the Government of India stated that already being aware of China’s involvement and warned the Chinese government to think about their standing with the global population.
The acknowledgement of this collaborative action has raised concerns above whether or not the military partnership between China and Pakistan is expanding, and what this means for the regional security of the area.
Technical Assistance From China
Citing Chinese state media, it was reported that AVIC (Aviation Industry Corporation of China) engineers worked side by side with engineers from Pakistan for the duration of this four-day conflict resulting from Operation Sindoor. China has described this additional assistance as a result of the close partnership between China and Pakistan in terms of Defence.
One of the engineers who was interviewed by China Central Television (CCTV) has provided a statement, indicating that while the teams were working together under wartime conditions to support Pakistan’s Chinese-made fighter jets, they were using support bases. This is the first acknowledgment by the Chinese government that their technical personnel provided assistance to Pakistan directly during this conflict.

Background of Operation Sindoor
Following the Pahalgam terror attack, India launched its Operation Sindhoor in May 2025. The objective of this operation was to strike at the “infrastructure supporting terrorism” within Pakistan and Pak-controlled Kashmir. During that time, it was alleged that Pakistan used China-supplied military hardware, such as J-10 fighter aircraft, and other military systems. Indian military leaders previously alleged that China provided Pakistan with real-time assistance during this conflict; they alleged that the conflict would serve as a live test site for its new weapons systems. Although initially China denied directly providing assistance in the area, the most recent announcement provided to confirm that they did provide assistance to the Pakistani Armed Forces.

India’s Response
In response, India delivered a strong diplomatic message to China. Indian officials stated they were not surprised by China’s support to Pakistan and stated that “China should take a hard look at its reputation” internationally. India further reiterated their concern for countries who presently either support or provide shelter for terrorist infrastructure in the region. Without permanent naming all of the countries, Indian officials have suggested that these types of actions will undermine the credibility of the nation’s around the world, and jeopardize the very peace and security of the world at large, and regional stability.

Rising Regional Tensions
Once again, this development has shown the growing strategic and military cooperation between China and Pakistan. Analysts suggest that the public announcement may further strain India-China relations, which remain strained as it relates to border disputes and various security concerns in the region.
Furthermore, this announcement confirms India’s long-term apprehension regarding the presence of a Sino-Pakistani security partnership directed against Indian interests in South Asia.
