IPO approval in place
This happened at the same time that Boat’s parent company, Imagine Marketing, got approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to go public.
The company backed by Warburg Pincus filed for an IPO in April without telling anyone. It is said to be aiming for a value of around Rs 13,000 crore.
The second time Boat has tried to go public. It put in draft papers for a Rs 2,000 crore IPO in January 2022. The IPO included a new issue of equity shares worth Rs 900 crore and an offer for sale worth up to Rs 1,100 crore. Later, the company took those papers back because the market was unstable.
Boat hasn’t said anything about whether Gupta’s new business will have anything to do with the upcoming public problem.
