More than an hour after polls opened at 7:00 AM, long lines of voters were waiting at each polling location to vote, enduring both heat and logistical difficulties in order to successfully cast their ballot. By 3:00 PM, turnout at our polling place exceeded 80%. This demonstrates that there was little fluctuation in turnout as the hours progressed.
According to reports, the demographic groups that participated in this election included; youth, women and new voters. The enthusiasm demonstrated by the participants supports the premise that there exists a robust electoral culture in Tamil Nadu, where voting is generally thought of as not only a civic duty, but also an opportunity to express their opinion publicly about various issues.

The Election Commission of India has commended the voters in the two states for participating so enthusiastically, describing this enthusiastic participation as a “historic milestone” for the advancement of democracy in India.
Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, said the record number of voters reflects the increasing political awareness and confidence of Indian citizens toward the electoral process.
The Commission has attributed the increase in voter turnout to improved management of the electoral rolls, increased voter education programs and extended polling locations.
