Baruthini Ekadashi is an Ekadashi falls in Vaishakha month (May-June) during the waning moon or Krishna Paksha. Equally as Baruthini refers to the word Baruthini (means protection), this Ekadashi is set up to honour Lord Vishnu and to show to the followers of Lord Vishnu that by worshipping him they have the protection from negativity resulting in bad fortune or sins.

Ways of celebrating Baruthini Ekadashi include but are not limited to; following a strict fasting rules and do not consume (sometimes referred to a nirjala fast – no food and/or water) grain or lentils, performing early morning bath, worshipping Lord Vishnu are performed at local temples or in the home of each devotee, decorating either the temples or the home of devotee, performing of Vishnu mantras and/or Vishnu Sahasranama, the ultimate charitable act is offering Charitable donations of food, clothing or money to the needy.

Today we celebrate the We will commemorate the Birthday of Vallabhacharya who is an important Philosopher, Saint, and the founder of the Vaishnav sect called Pushtimarg. Vallabhacharya taught that we should devote our love through devotion, which is called ‘Bhakti’, to Krishna and in the form of Shrinathji.
