Tata Motors has released a new version of the Punch EV with updated styling to interest people in India who want to buy electric cars. The new electric mini SUV features a cleaner exterior that makes it stand out more on the road. A more modern AI language has been used to replace the old joined front strip and improve the front.
Along with the new look comes updated lights and design features that make the Punch EV look more modern.
Improvements to the interior and technology
Tata Motors hasn’t officially shown off the cabin yet, but changes inside are likely to be gradual rather than big.
The shape of the dashboard is expected to stay the same, but better models could get a bigger 12.3-inch touchscreen entertainment system with new software, possibly taken from Tata’s bigger electric vehicles.
The 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, heated front seats, wireless charging, ambient lighting, connected car technology, and 360-degree camera are all features that are already there and are likely to stay. Tata could also add more safety features, but this would depend on the final mix of variants.
One of the best things about the Punch EV is its connected car technology, which lets you monitor and control many of its functions from afar. Having a 360-degree camera system makes it easier to see and safer to move around in small areas. Upgrades to the interior trim and ambient lighting make the car feel warmer and cosier for riders.

Exterior design
Tata Motors has already shown off the improved Punch EV’s body, and sightings in public have revealed most of its features before it even comes out.
The front of the facelift has a cleaner, more modern look. The black strip that used to connect the headlights has been taken off, making the car look cleaner. The closed-off screen is now better merged, and the slim LED DRLs are still what make the lights stand out. The main sets of headlights stay lower in the hood.
The electric SUV looks a little more confident thanks to a new lower bumper with stronger creases, a redesigned air dam, and a new skid plate design.
From the side, the shape stays the same, but new exterior paint colors, like bright yellow and copper-brown, will likely expand the color range.
The biggest change at the back is a linked LED light bar that runs across the door. This makes it look like it goes with the new petrol powered Punch.
Battery life and range
Mechanically, the update should keep the same battery choices as before:
25kWh battery pack: 82bhp and 114Nm, with a claimed range of 265km 35kWh battery pack: 122bhp and 190Nm, with a claimed range of up to 365km
Tata has, however, hinted that they might add a battery choice with a bigger size. If this is true, it could make the Punch EV even more appealing, especially to people who want more real-world range. There may also be small changes to the approved range numbers that come with the update.
Even though the battery is smaller, the Punch EV has enough power and speed to handle most road conditions in cities and suburbs. The bigger battery choice gives you better performance and a range that makes it easier to enjoy longer trips without having to stop often to charge.
Tata Motors is happy with the performance numbers as they are, so there aren’t any big changes to the powertrain’s building blocks. There have been rumors that the company is looking into the possibility of making batteries with even bigger sizes in the future.
How to Compete in the Growing EV Market
Price to expect and competitors
The price of the old Punch EV is between Rs. 9.99 lakh and Rs. 14.44 lakh (ex-showroom). You can expect the prices to go up a little, especially for the models with more features and any new battery options.
When it comes out, the updated Punch EV will continue to compete with the Citroen eC3 in the sub-Rs 15 lakh EV market, where value, usefulness, and range are still important factors.
The new model’s updated look, high tech features and useful performance make it a better choice for people who want a modern electric vehicle (EV) without spending a lot of money. With more charging stations and more people in India buying electric cars, the updated Punch EV arrives at a time when people are increasingly interested in affordable electric transportation.
Overall, the Tata Punch EV’s makeover is the latest update that combines new looks and better features with the strong basics that made the first model a standout in its class. It shows that Tata Motors is still committed to expanding its line of electric vehicles and adapting to a rapidly changing market.
