In the message, the Prime Minister also praised the efforts of security personnel, healthcare workers, volunteers, and local communities for ensuring the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage in Jammu and Kashmir.

He specifically mentioned pony operators, porters, and palanquin bearers, describing their assistance on the difficult mountain route as a reflection of India’s long-standing tradition of selfless service and hospitality.
Five Pledges for Every Amarnath Pilgrim
A key part of the Prime Minister’s letter was an appeal for devotees to adopt five pledges throughout the pilgrimage.
Keep the Yatra Clean
Pilgrims were urged to maintain cleanliness and help preserve hygiene along the entire Yatra route.
Follow Safety Guidelines
The second pledge encourages devotees to comply with administrative instructions, traffic regulations, and safety advisories while remaining cautious during rain, slippery conditions, and cold weather.
Support Local Businesses
Linking the pilgrimage with the government’s ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, PM Modi encouraged pilgrims to spend at least 10 per cent of their travel expenses on locally made products.
“Inspired by the spirit of ‘Vocal for Local,’ we will spend at least 10 per cent of our travel expenses on purchasing local products. This will strengthen the livelihoods of families and youth in Jammu & Kashmir.”
Participate in ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’
The fourth pledge encourages devotees to take part in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign by gifting a sapling to a sibling on Raksha Bandhan, which coincides with the conclusion of this year’s Yatra.
Embrace the ‘Nation First’ Spirit
The final pledge extends beyond the pilgrimage itself, encouraging devotees to contribute to the country’s development throughout the year.
“With the spirit of ‘Nation First,’ we will honestly perform our duties throughout the year and actively contribute to building a Viksit Bharat.”
Prayer for a Safe and Successful Pilgrimage
Concluding his letter, PM Modi expressed hope that this year’s Amarnath Yatra would become “a grand celebration of faith in Sanatan Dharma, India’s cultural unity and the tradition of selfless service.”
He also prayed for the safety and well-being of every devotee.
“I pray that Baba Amarnath’s infinite blessings remain with all of us. May your pilgrimage be safe, auspicious, and may it fill your lives with renewed energy, awareness, and spiritual strength.”
The Prime Minister further expressed confidence that Baba Barfani would inspire every pilgrim to become “more dedicated to our duties” while contributing toward the goal of building a Viksit Bharat.
Extensive Security Arrangements in Place
The Amarnath Yatra, one of Hinduism’s most revered pilgrimages, attracts hundreds of thousands of devotees each year to the naturally formed ice Shivling inside the Amarnath cave shrine in the Himalayas of Jammu and Kashmir.
This year’s pilgrimage is being conducted under extensive security arrangements, with authorities deploying thousands of security personnel and implementing elaborate logistical measures to ensure the safety and smooth movement of pilgrims.
Conclusion
Through his message to Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, Prime Minister Narendra Modi combined spiritual guidance with practical appeals for cleanliness, safety, environmental responsibility, and support for local communities. His five pledges aim to encourage devotees to make the annual pilgrimage not only a journey of faith but also a contribution toward social responsibility and the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
