A mechanic hailing from Jharkhand has gained national fame by transforming an ordinary Maruti 800 into a stunning copy of a Lamborghini supercar. The project has gone viral on social media and is being referred to as “desi Lamborghini” because of the distance to reach its final form.
The Name Behind the Creation That Went Viral
The car modification was done by Mohamed Arif, a local mechanic who had little to work with and used his mechanical skill and creativity to change the small hatchback into a sportscar-style vehicle. It was stated that it took nearly two years to complete the project, as he worked on it in his spare time at his garage.
A Great Transformation for Only ₹4 Lakhs
Perhaps the most surprising part about the transformation is the price tag attached to it. According to reports, Arif transformed the car for around ₹4 Lakhs, which is significantly less than what would cost to buy an actual Lamborghini (several crores of rupees). He made most of the parts for the vehicle by welding metal together and cutting and shaping it into the desired shape rather than purchasing pre-made body kits.

Major Design Changes
To transform the Maruti 800 into a supercar, the mechanic made substantial changes to the vehicle’s structure, creating a wider body with flared wheel arches, fibreglass body panels, custom LED headlights and a neon green finish. The installation of large rear wings, a deep front splitter and upgraded 16-inch alloy wheels further enhance the vehicle’s sporty appearance.
Inside, the vehicle has also been redesigned to provide a sporty, two-passenger cabin, with a recently added sunroof that was never available in the original Maruti 800 model.
The original engine remains intact, a 796cc 3 cylinder gasoline engine that delivers approximately 37-40 bhp. While not capable of producing performance comparable to an actual Lamborghini, the vehicle has generated much excitement among car enthusiasts due to its stunning visual effects and inventive engineering.
Internet Applauds ‘Jugaad’ Innovation
The modified vehicle has been viewed millions of times through various social media channels. Many social media users have complimented Arif on his craftsmanship and referred to his accomplishments as perfect examples of the Indian concept of “jugaad,” which refers to finding innovative solutions to problems using minimal resources.
This viral project serves as a testament to the idea that a great deal of creativity and passion can transform one of India’s most simple cars into an amazing head-turning vehicle.
