Complaints filed, and legal action is in process
A Bengaluru-based advocate, Prashanth Methal, has filed a formal complaint in the High Grounds Police Station in Bengaluru. The case simply upholds Ranveer’s act of alleging and insulting the Daiva as it has hurt the sentiments of the Tulu Hindu community. The case cited sections of law, 196, 299 and 302 under the new criminal code, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Reports say that Ranveer’s action of mimicry showcased deliberate disrespect and is a pure act of blasphemy.
Recent reports reveal that the complaint has been filed and acknowledged by the authorities so far. No FIR (First Information Report) has been registered till now. The issue is still under consideration, and no official criminal case has still registered on the matter.
On the contrary, Ranveer Singh has issued a public apology on social media. He stated that he had absolutely no intention to offend the tradition of ritual of the community. He further said that he just intended to appreciate the performance from the movie in a light tone, and he had no motive to disrespect the belief, culture and tradition. He further shared his regrets for hurting a community’s sentiments, which he had no intention of doing at all.
