Ishaan Khatter, a Bollywood actor, has received honorary membership of the Indian Armoured Corps 45 Cavalry Regiment, in recognition of his portrayal of Captain Balram Singh Mehta in the film Pippa.
The honour is not only for Khatter’s extraordinary performance on screen, but also for his respect towards the traditions and heritage of the regiment.
Recognition of His Role in Pippa
During a unique event, both cinema and the military came together to honor authentic representations of India’s military past. Ishaan shared some images from the event on social media and called it “the greatest honor of my life.”
Pippa directed by Raja Krishna Menon, is based on Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta’s memoirs, The Burning Chaffees. It tells the heroic story of 45 Cavalry Regiment’s contribution during the liberation of Bangladesh as part of the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War at the Battle of Garibpur.
In the film, Ishaan portrays Captain Balram Singh Mehta, a young officer of 45 Cavalry Regiment, who displayed great bravery while fighting for his country alongside fellow soldiers. The title Pippa is inspired by an amphibious Soviet-origin PT-76 tank that the regiment utilized during the war.
Militairy is reported to have admired Ishaan’s genuine portrayal of a cavalry officer’s lifestyle and character. The regiment presented Ishaan with a plaque recognizing him for “his authentic portrayal of a 45 Cavalry Officer in Pippa and his sincere respect for the regiment’s values.”

Actor Shares Emotional Note
Ishaan shared photographs and videos from the ceremony and openly expressed humility in his gratitude for receiving the award. He stated that the recognition was special to him because of his non-military upbringing and how it inspires him to put his heart and soul into all of his work as an actor.
He also expressed a new-found pride in considering the 45 Cavalry as his regiment through this experience.
The photographs shared at the gathering follow Ishaan’s presentation of a plaque by representatives of the Indian army, along with warm interactions with military members and their families as well as good times at the gathering.
A Special Bond Between Cinema and the Armed Forces
There is a deeper bond between Bollywood and the military. This recognition illustrates how much the Indian military appreciates films that authentically represent the history and values associated with that trade.
Pippa has provided audiences with a glimpse of the bravery of the 45 Cavalry regiment soldiers and how those actions contribute to the Indian army’s efforts during the 1971 war.
With this honorary membership, Ishaan has gained something more than just a successful career in film; he received the trust and respect of one of India’s finest army regiments as their honorary member.
