Harsh Goenka recently posted on his X account about Huawei’s Maestro S800. The movie “This or Maybach?” with artist Sergi Galiano quickly made people around the world aware of this bold Chinese luxury brand. Goenka called the car “quite fabulous” in his post.

Huawei provides a lot of technological power to the Maextro S800, a high-end model from JAC’s Maextro brand. It is marketed as a super high-end electric car that costs less than Rs. 89,89,070 ($100,000) but delivers an experience that many reviews say feels much more expensive. The car is a long, flagship-level vehicle with a long wheelbase that makes the trunk big, a feature usually linked with high-class European brands.
Rich Interior & First-Class Comfort
The S800 leans fully into luxury inside. The Maextro 800’s website says the cabin features semi-aniline leather, crystal details, polished wood panels, and deep-padded seats that are almost overly luxurious. Each person in the back of the car has their own VIP couch that can almost lie flat. A big 40-inch privacy screen goes up between the rows to make a private room in the back. Features like soft-close doors, a starlit panoramic roof, and multi-zone climate control make the space feel more like a private room than a regular car.
There is a four-seat “executive” plan and a roomy five-seat design in the cabin. Both options feature semi-aniline leather seating, real wood and crystal details, ambient lighting, and quality finishes.
For people sitting in the back: two zero-gravity seats that can tilt up to 148.5°, with full massage and ventilation, as well as multi-zone heating and cooling for the doors and the arms, creating a “mobile living room” vibe.
A “starlight roof” that lets you see the stars, a rising 40-inch screen that doubles as a wall and an entertainment system, and privacy glass make the space feel more private and more pleasant.

Cutting-Edge Tech & Driving Dynamics
It also has an amazing success story. Buyers can choose either a fully electric model or a range-extended version with a small gas engine to recharge the battery on long trips. The S800 can exceed 1,000 km in CLTC tests, depending on how it is configured. Huawei provides the Harmony ALPS dashboard system and the smart driving parts that handle guidance, sensing, and driverless tasks. The big car is surprisingly quick and nimble at both low and high speeds thanks to its rear-steering setup and adjustable suspension.
Powertrains- pure electric vehicle (EV) or extended-range electric vehicle (EREV hybrid). The EV version has a 95 kWh battery or one of a similar size. It can go about 700 km on a charge, and it takes about 4.3 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h.
Variants of the EREV add a 1.5-litre turbo generator and a dual- or tri-motor setup, allowing a total range of about 1,333 kilometres. This combines electric driving with backup power.
A fully aluminium frame, an independent multi-link suspension with adjustable damping, and four-wheel steering with crab-walk capability improve riding comfort and handling. This is great for a big luxury car because it makes it very agile.
Base models of the S800 include many luxury features, such as leather, wood, massage seats, a high-quality sound system, ambient lighting, and more. Reports say that these base models start at around $98,000–$100,000, which is almost 90 lakhs in Indian rupees or 708,000 yuan in China. Higher trims with longer powertrains and VIP setups with four seats cost about $140,000 or more, but they are still relatively cheaper than those from brands that focus on ultra-luxury.
Do you prefer the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class or the Rolls-Royce Phantom?
The value promise determines the order in which expensive goods are purchased. The S800 has a great value-to-feature ratio; it offers many high-end features, such as VIP seats, private features, an almost-silent cabin, and soft materials, making it a lot like a Maybach or Rolls-Royce but much cheaper. Maextro’s feature loadout looks like a really good deal because China’s EV supply chain and industrial backing let them keep costs low. It goes against the idea that ultra-luxury always has to cost a lot. Yet the brand faces a mental block even with its impressive tech sheet. Heavy buyers of Maybach and Rolls-Royce continue to place great importance on tradition and image.
