As part of the recent redevelopment of the Al Mamzar Beach Project, Dubai has unveiled an area at the newly redeveloped Al Mamzar Beach that will now be available for women only. This development is another addition to the public leisure offerings in Dubai. The goal of this initiative is to give women a place to relax, feel secure and comfortable while enjoying leisure activities at one of the most popular beaches in the UAE.
Dubai Unveils New Beach Experience for Women
The new facility, which was opened by the Municipality of Dubai as part of the larger Al Mamzar Beaches Redevelopment Initiative under the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, will combine recreational and tourism aspects with community-friendly facilities. The plans for the project also emphasised and promoted inclusivity and accessibility.

Women-Only Enclosed Section
One of the biggest changes made as part of this new redevelopment is that there will now be a permanent area for women at the beach. Prior to the new, women were only allowed on the beach on designated “Ladies Only” days. The new configuration allows for women-only beachfront access all week long.
To ensure privacy, the women-only zone will have fully enclosed fencing. Additionally, all women will now have access to female lifeguards during their time at the beach. No photographs or video will be allowed to be taken within the women-only area, creating a more secure and comfortable environment for all women who visit the beach. Officials were optimistic that the new facility would lead to an increase in beach visitation by women and families.
The shoreline also offers amenities like athletic fields, children’s playgrounds & commercial facilities aimed specifically at female patrons.

Late-Night Swimming and New Attractions
In addition to the newly remodeled beachfront of Al Mamzar, there will also be a 24 hour swimming area equipped with modern lighting systems and added safety features for night swimming. City officials stated that by providing an illuminated swimming environment, residents as well as tourists will be able to enjoy activities after dark in the warmer summer months.
The newly developed waterfront also features an extensive floating walkway that provides visitors with a birds’ eye view of the ocean and improves access to the different areas of coastline. The project will also add jogging and bike paths; fitness facilities; beach volleyball courts; and various water sports/recreational opportunities including kayaking, paddle boating and jet skiing.
In addition to all the above features there will also be several restaurants/cafes located along the waterfront as well as landscaped common areas to create Al Mamzar as a premier lifestyle destination.

Part of Dubai’s Broader Coastal Improvement Initiative
According to officers with the City of Dubai, the redevelopment of the Al Mamzar area is part of a larger multi-billion dirham coastal improvement initiative to upgrade all public beaches within Dubai. Future upgrades to the coastal region will also include Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim & Jebel Ali.
The new project is predicted to have huge potential for visitors and increase Dubai’s position in the global marketplace for tourism and lifestyle. The authorities have indicated that there would emphasis on environmentally friendly and easily accessible designs with intelligent safety features. Facilities for individuals with disabilities have been incorporated into the design of the beach such as accessible path ways for wheel chairs etc.
Public Response and Social Interest
Women’s only beach has had lots of interest from the community and on social media and many people seem to support the decision, specifically women that can have private beach space in Dubai. Many social media users noted that there were previously some days in Al Mamzar that were for ladies only, however now that a permanent section will be available, it will be viewed as an upgrade.
Many visitors that have visited the newly renovated beach have positively commented on the amount of new open spaces, improved facilities, and family oriented atmosphere. Many residents have similar fears that due to the popularity of the new beach, it will be extremely busy during weekends and holiday times.
