The legacy of ‘Garam Dharam’ and his emptiness in Indian film
People really liked the movies he was in, like Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani in 2023 and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya in 2024.
His flexibility was what made him stand out. He then went on to play both love leads in movies like “Phool Aur Patthar” (1966) and “Aaye Din Bahar Ke” and tough action leads in movies like “Dharam Veer” and “Hukumat.” But the most famous part he ever played was the bad guy Veeru in Ramesh Sippy’s 1975 movie “Sholay.” His “good looks,” natural charm, signature dance moves, and songs like the famous “Yamla Pagla Deewana” will be missed in Hindi film. He’s still a fan favourite, and not just among women. A lot of guys also love him.
