The young death from India in London has thrown into question the difficulties that those who immigrate to another country experience. Indian people living outside of India have reacted in a huge manner to this situation and want answers as to what happened and how they can obtain justice for the young man who lost his life.
In Southall, West London, police are conducting an investigation into the deaths of two men, one of which had been murdered outside of a store on the corner of North Road and Dormers Wells Lane around 12:30 AM on Saturday. The community that this young man grew up has expressed their sorrow for the loss of life as well as for the safety of all people living in urban areas and around the world. Currently being investigated, residents living around India and England have been inundated with news about this unfortunate case.
Mr. Singh was stabbed as a result of this tragic event, so the police and ambulance crew were called when there was a report of someone who had been stabbed. When the police and the ambulance arrived, they found two men who had been physically wounded, and Mr. Singh died at the scene due to his stab wound. One of the other men was identified by the police as being in his thirties and received treatment related to this incident at a local hospital, and was released after.
Mr. Gurbhej Singh, who was from Punjab (India), came to the UK in 2022 to find a better job and a higher standard of living. His family in India spent thousands of dollars to relocate Mr. Singh, and being part of the migrant worker category, they also have incurred thousands of dollars because of this entire situation, bringing new attention and highlighting the safety concerns of young migrant workers worldwide.
Seven People Arrested
Police conducted an extensive and thorough investigation into the stabbing incident that led to the arrest of seven men (aged between 20 – 39) for murder. However, police investigations have led to the courts releasing all but one of the suspects without further action being taken against any of the suspects involved. The remaining suspect has been released on bail until further questions can be asked during the investigation; therefore, no formal charges have been made against any of the suspects to date.
Police Request Witnesses
The investigators from the Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime Command are looking for help from the public to obtain information to assist in their investigation of the stabbing of Gurbhej Singh. Investigators would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area where the stabbing took place as well as those who may have recorded the events before and after the stabbing on video (such as CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone video).
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell said that investigators are actively looking to establish the exact circumstances surrounding Mr Singh’s death through eyewitness accounts. There may be potential witnesses with vital evidence who have yet to contact the police regarding the stabbing.

Reports Point To Possible Dispute
The motive for the attack is still being established, but there are reports of a verbal dispute just before the stabbing took place. Investigators are attempting to establish whether the verbal disagreement turned physical. Police have not confirmed a motive at this time and therefore are asking members of the public not to speculate on this issue until the investigation is complete.

Growing Concern Over Knife Crime
Once again the murder has brought renewed attention to the issue of knife crime in London. Authorities have made many attempts to address acts of violence committed using knives, yet acts of violence continue to cause concern and fear in local communities. Residents of Southall and leaders of the community were horrified to find out about this crime and believe that justice for the victim and his family is long overdue.
Community Mourns
The victim’s family, friends and the entire Indian Diaspora have all paid tribute to the late Gurbhej Singh, who many described as a young man who worked hard to come to a new country to fulfill his dreams of creating a successful future for himself. His family are currently being provided with assistance and support from the Metropolitan Police’s specialized family support officers and they will continue to provide support and assistance through the grieving process. The community hopes that after an investigation into Singh’s murder is complete, those responsible will be apprehended.
Ongoing Investigation
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police are still continuing their investigation into Singh’s murder. Detectives are currently conducting a review of evidence collected from the scene, interviewing witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage of the incident.
