The Alpha teaser, an upcoming female-led spy thriller from Yash Raj Films (YRF), is finally being shown to the world! Showcasing the much anticipated film featuring Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, and Bobby Deol, the teaser certainly captured the attention of movie fans with its action and left many eager to see this film. The teaser did, however, create some debate on social media. The topic of most people talking about this teaser is why Sharvari isn’t in it.
After the teaser was made available, social media exploded with people questioning why one of the film’s stars was not featured in the teaser, especially given how long we’ve known she has been a prominent member of the production since its inception.
Teaser Only Features Alia Bhatt’s Character
The teaser almost solely features Alia Bhatt’s character as a lethal spy under the direction of her father Bobby Deol. Included in the teaser are Alia’s father/daughter relationships and emotional content as they develop throughout the film, as well as Alia receiving training to be an adult in the espionage world.
While the promo establishes Alia as the focus for this project, it is notable for the omission of both Sharvari and Anil Kapoor from appearing in the promo. Many have expressed confusion regarding this creative decision, especially since YRF had previously marketed Alpha as a film headlined by both Alia and Sharvari.

Fans Ask: “Where Is Sharvari?”
Soon after the teaser’s release, users began questioning why Sharvari was omitted. Many were disappointed there was no brief glimpse of Sharvari in the nearly two-minute teaser.
“Is there not a single frame of Sharvari?” one user asked on social media while another user asked how a film promoted as a two-woman spy thriller would put out its first official teaser without showing one of the lead actresses.
This discussion quickly proliferated throughout forums and communities around entertainment, where users debated whether the teaser was designed intentionally with Alia being the main focus even though Sharvari has a large role in the film. Viewers have pointed out how odd it is that there was no footage of Sharvari when she was previously featured in promotions.
The controversy surrounding this has led fans to speculate that YRF may have planned a separate reveal for Sharvari closer to release; others believe the teaser was intended as a character introduction to Alia, implying that additional trailers will follow featuring the other star cast members.

Alpha Teaser Generates Buzz But Also Sparks Controversy
Industry experts have stated that teaser campaigns tend to focus on one character as a way to establish the film’s premise, before introducing multiple storylines and other supporting characters. There are critics of this method, though, who contend that the tactic may have backfired by making more questions arise regarding Sharvari’s character and its role in the film. To date, Yash Raj Films have not released an official reason for not including Sharvari in the teaser.
Reactions to the teaser of the film in general have been all over the place. Outside of the conversation of Sharvari, the teaser appears to have drawn a wide variety of reactions from fans of the film who commented on how the overall production was better than previous films. Most fans seemed to be excited about seeing Alia Bhatt play a more substantial role and being the first female lead version of the YRF Spy universe. Others, on the other hand, were not so sure that the visuals, dialogue, or storytelling would meet the standards set by prior spy films in the franchise.
Some viewers complimented the film’s scale and praised Alia’s effort to perform as a full-fledged action hero. Other viewers, however, pointed to the most recent action films released in theatres up to this point and believed that these completed products would not live up to the lofty expectations surrounding the spy franchise.

All Eyes on the Next Trailer
Alpha is one of the most highly-anticipated Bollywood releases of the year, despite the previous controversies surrounding its release. For YRF’s spy universe, this marks a franchise first – it’s the first film within the franchise that features a female lead, and it has assembled a phenomenal star-studded cast to support its plot and theme.
That said, when it comes to conversing about Alpha, the dominant sentiment that is currently being expressed through social media is not focused on its fight scenes, nor its plotline; rather, the primary topic of conversation focused on one question: “Where is Sharvari?”. Unless YRF releases new promotional material or a teaser for the film, there appear to be few avenues available for fans of the movie to discover information on the cast member Sharvari.
