England and India will face off in a landmark women’s Test match at Lord’s Cricket Ground, with play beginning on Friday, 10 July. The four-day contest marks the first time a women’s Test has been staged at the iconic venue, adding another chapter to the rivalry between two of international cricket’s leading teams.
Historic Occasion at the Home of Cricket
The upcoming fixture will be the 153rd women’s Test in cricket history and the first women’s Test ever hosted at Lord’s, widely known as the Home of Cricket.
England and Australia played the inaugural women’s Test in December 1934 during a three-match series. Since then, England have featured in 103 women’s Tests, while India have played 43.
Although Lord’s has never hosted a women’s Test before, it has staged 150 men’s Test matches. The latest was the opening Test of England’s three-match series against New Zealand last month.
Among venues, Worcester’s New Road has hosted the most women’s Tests with nine. The Oval has held six, while the County Ground in Taunton and Scarborough’s North Marine Road Ground have each staged five.
