The salt air of the MandoviRiver mixed with the age-old aroma of ink-on-paper this week, when Goa Book Festival 2026 threw its doors open to visitors at Bhausaheb Dayanand Bandodkar Ground in Panaji. From February 4 to February 8, 2026, a five-day emporium of all things literary will entertain and enlighten visitors in this jubilant celebration of human culture entitled “An Ocean of Stories” — as this is not just your ordinary book fair.

200+ Publishers: A Multilingual Refuge
Over 200 book stalls of over 100 big publishers are the heart of the festival. The number of titles on sale is too numerous to enumerate. From the latest global bestsellers to scarce academic journals and local regional literature, the stands provide a complete window into the world of letters.
The festival is also a major show window for regional languages, which mirrors the linguistic mosaic of the Konkan coast:
- Konkani and Marathi: A special section on the illustrious heritage of Goan Literature, with a showcase of both modern poets and traditional playwrights.
- English and Hindi:There are big national and international houses here, for everything from non-fiction about governance to experimental fiction.
- Children’s Literature: Ample space has been dedicated for children reading with special focus on NBT’s mission of promoting reading culture from the childhood itself.
Cultural Vibe and Artistic Tributes
What makes the Goa Book Festival 2026 unique is its convergence between books with visual and performing arts. The air rings with the sounds of Fado and the soul-stirring wildness of Tiatr.
One of the much-discussed attractions in now is a special exhibition called ‘Goa: Stories of Light and Delight’. This gallery showcases the art work of some of Goas most famous artists especially the late Mario de Miranda. His clever, socially nuanced drawings, which have shaped the visual representation of Goan life, are presented alongside that of contemporary artists like Shetye, whose evocative landscapes document the state’s changing face.
As a tribute to the nation’s landmarks, also readies a gallery on 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with rare photographs and documents provide unique historical perspectives on the making of India.
