Samsung Galaxy A series revamped with new A7, A5, A3 smartphones

Samsung Galaxy A series for the year 2016 has been announced with 3 new smartphones: Galaxy A7, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3.

Galaxy A series for 2016 combines the new Samsung design style with metal and glass to give the smartphones a premium look. The Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 (2016) also support Samsung Pay, Samsung’s mobile payment service and fingerprint verification as well.

“At Samsung, we are committed to continued innovation, inspired by the feedback and needs of our wide range of consumers,” said JK Shin, CEO and Head of Samsung’s IT & Mobile Business in a press statement. “With the introduction of the Galaxy A (2016), we took the consumer feedback on our original Galaxy A models and made thoughtful and impactful improvements offering consumers a seamless convergence of style and performance for their everyday lifestyles.”

Samsung has also added Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and a bigger F1.9 lens both on the front and rear cameras for better low-light pictures in the Galaxy A smartphones.

The phones will be available in China in mid-December 2015 and will roll-out to global markets later. Samsung has not confirmed the price.

Specs of the Samsung Galaxy A (2016) series smartphones are as follows: Samsung Galaxy A7 has a 5.5-inch FHD (1920×1080) Super AMOLED display, a 1.6GHz octa-core processor, 13mp OIS rear camera and five megapixel OS rear camera. It runs Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and has 3GB RAM and 16GB storage (microSD up to 128GB). Additional features are support for MST technology (Samsung Pay), Samsung KNOX, S-Voice, along with dual-SIM option. Connectivity options are: Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v 4.1, ANT+ (for tracking health data, fitness, etc), USB 2.0, NFC (UICC, eSE) Galaxy A7 (2016) has the following sensors: Accelerometer, proximity, geomagnetic, RGB Light, Hall, fingerprint scanner. It has a 3,300mAh battery with fast-charging support. Samsung Galaxy A5  has a 5.2-inch FHD (1920×1080) Super AMOLED display, 1.6GHz octa-core processor but comes with 2GB RAM. The storage space is 16GB (microSD up to 128GB) and it also runs Android 5.1 (Lollipop). The camera is the same as the Galaxy A7 and it also supports MST technology(Samsung Pay), Samsung KNOX, S-Voice. This is also a dual-SIM smartphone. The Galaxy A5 (2016) supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v 4.1, ANT+, USB 2.0, NFC (UICC, eSE). Sensor included are Accelerometer, Proximity, geomagnetic, RGB Light, Hall, fingerprint scanner. The battery size is 2,900mAh with fast-charging support. Samsung Galaxy A3 has a smaller 4.7-inch HD (1280×720) Super AMOLED screen. It runs a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor with 1.5 GB RAM and 16GB storage space (expandable up to 128GB). The camera specs are the same as the A7 and the A5. This does not have support for Samsung Pay or a fingerprint scanner. It supports Samsung KNOX, S-Voice, and comes with dual-SIM option. Connectivity options are: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v 4.1, ANT+, USB 2.0, NFC (UICC). Sensors on the Galaxy A3 are Accelerometer, proximity, geomagnetic, RGB Light, Hall. It has a 2,300mAh battery.
