Geneva 2016: Mercedes-Benz to showcase C-Class Cabriolet

Mercedes-Benz has been testing the cabriolet version of the latest generation C-Class for some time now. Prior to its official debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the three point star has recently released a teaser sketch on Facebook. The car will be a coupé version of the C-Class which will be equipped with a soft-top.

Corresponding to the spy images that have been posted on the internet, Mercedes-Benz is likely to offer the cabriolet in different colour options for the fabric roof. The AMG variant of the cabriolet is likely to get a black roof while the lower-spec will feature a bright red coloured fabric roof. Mercedes-Benz has opted for a soft-top instead of the hard-top to reduce weight and costs.

The cabriolet version of the C-Class when introduced in India will come with the same engine options as offered for the sedan variant. The diesel variant will feature a 2,143cc turbocharged four-cylinder engine which churns out 170PS of power and 400Nm of torque. The petrol variant will be offered with 1,991cc four-cylinder engine which produces 183PS of power and 300Nm of torque. The AMG version the cabriolet will be powered by the 3,982cc Bi-Turbo V8 petrol engine which belts out 517PS of power and 700Nm of torque. The variants will be mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission powering the rear wheels.

Keeping in mind the 12 cars that the German manufacturer has reportedly committed to launch in India this year, the C-Class cabriolet is likely to be one of them.
